Everything you need to know to master the magical arts of Grimzoo and keep your memory safe for eternity.
What is Grimzoo?
Grimzoo is your personal digital clone. It's an enchanted manor where you capture the memories of your life through guided questions, then talk with an AI Clone that knows your story.
You tell your life the way you like — by answering questions, chatting with Grimzoo or writing freely — and Grimzoo gradually builds an AI Clone that can tell you your own memories, bring back forgotten moments and keep your memory in the Grimoire for eternity.
The Quill

Fill your Grimoire in one go
- ✓📄 Notebook import: drop a Word (.docx) or text file, and Grimzoo splits it into memories you approve one by one.
- ✓🎙️ You can also drop an audio recording: it's transcribed, then split the same way.
- ✓🎬 A video too: its soundtrack is extracted in your browser, transcribed, then split. The film itself never leaves your device.
- ✓Grimzoo never rewrites your words — it only splits and labels them. Still, read a transcript closely (names, places, dates).
- ✓📘 Social media import: from your Facebook or Instagram archive, each post becomes a memory with its photos and its original date.
- ✓Your archive is opened right in your browser — it's never sent to our servers. Only the memories you keep are saved.
Enrich a memory
- ✓📷 Add photos to a memory, and pick the one that makes the cover with the star ⭐.
- ✓🎧 Attach up to 5 audio recordings per memory — a voice, a song, a background sound.
- ✓✨ "Illustrate this memory" generates an AI illustration in the style of the Manor. The button only shows when the memory has no photo yet: as soon as you add one, it disappears.
- ✓🪄 "Proofread" rereads your text and corrects mistakes without ever touching your style. You can undo with one click.
- ✓🎤 "Dictate" transcribes what you tell, when creating a memory as well as when editing it.
- ✓📍 "Memory location" fills itself in when your text names a town (if you've agreed to AI), or you pick the town yourself. That's what places the pin on the Atlas.
- ✓🔊 "Read aloud" reads a memory back to you — handy for listening again, or for tired eyes.
Talk to your Clone
- ✓Your AI Clone learns from everything you add to your Grimoire.
- ✓Ask it about your past — it answers the way you would.
- ✓It also knows what's in your photos: Grimzoo writes a description of each one, so the Clone knows what they're about. AI-generated illustrations are never shown to it — they aren't your real memories.
- ✓The Clone gets better with every new memory you add.
- ✓Conversations are private and encrypted.
The Grimoire
- ✓All your memories are organised by theme and by date.
- ✓Use the filters (theme, tag, year, feeling) to find a specific memory in an instant.
- ✓Search understands the meaning of what you type: look for "holidays" and Grimzoo also brings up memories about the sea that never use the word. It also searches what your photos show — a memory found that way is marked "Found through the photo".
- ✓✨ Switch to "Timeline" to see your memories laid out chronologically. You'll need to enter your birth year in Settings to turn it on.
- ✓🗺️ Switch to "Atlas" to see your memories pinned on a map, town by town. A pin leads to the memories of that place; you can remove a place from the memory's page.
- ✓Every memory is tied to a theme, a feeling and tags.
- ✓Choose which memories go into your shared Grimoire.
Share
- ✓📖 The Shared Grimoire gives access to a selection of your memories, through an open link or one reserved for approved emails.
- ✓💎 You can also share a single memory: a read-only link for that one alone, without opening up the whole Grimoire.
- ✓🤝 The Witness: send a memory to someone close who lived it with you. They add what they remember, no account needed, and you then decide what goes into your text — quoted in their name, or blended into your words. Nothing is saved without you.
- ✓The people you share with don't need an account to read what you share.
- ✓You can regenerate or revoke a link at any time.
Settings & Security
- ✓Change your nickname and your profile photo.
- ✓Enter your birth year — it's what unlocks the Grimoire's Timeline.
- ✓Turn on the weekly reminder to help your Grimoire grow, and choose which emails you want to receive.
- ✓Sign in safely with a 6-digit code sent by email.
- ✓Export your Grimoire as PDF, Word (.docx) or JSON.
- ✓You can delete your account and all your data at any time.

Important: your Clone never makes up memories. If it doesn't have enough to go on, it'll tell you and invite you to enrich your Grimoire.
Practical tips
Add memories regularly, even short ones — variety is what makes your AI Clone precise and authentic.
Your Grimoire is empty and the blank page is daunting? Import a notebook, an audio recording or your Facebook/Instagram posts: you start out with dozens of memories at once.
Be specific in your answers — the details make your Clone more true to you.
Use the feeling picker to say what you feel when you think back on it.
Browse your Grimoire regularly — it helps you rediscover forgotten memories.
Your account is protected by a one-time code sent by email — no password to remember.
The more different themes you cover, the richer and more complete your AI Clone becomes.
You can add links to your memories: paste a URL directly (https://...), or use [link text](https://example.com) for a custom label.
Don't feel like typing? Click "Dictate" — Grimzoo transcribes what you tell, when creating a memory as well as when editing it.
A childhood memory entered today keeps today's date unless you say otherwise. Open "Refine" to give it its true year — that's what places it in the right spot on your Timeline.
Several photos on one memory? The star on a thumbnail makes it the cover — that's the one you'll see on the card in the Grimoire.
Grimzoo Glossary
The enchanted vocabulary of Grimzoo — so you never get lost in the corridors of the Manor.
Manor
The Grimzoo app itself. You enter the Manor when you sign in, and leave it when you sign out.
Grimoire
Your personal space for memories. It's the great magical book where all your memories are kept. From its header, "Life Book" turns them into a real book to print.
Quill
Where you write. The Grimoire keeps, the Quill inscribes. Four ways to write: Fireside, Free writing, Discovery or Tailored. You can also import a notebook, a PDF book, an audio recording or your Facebook and Instagram posts there.
Fireside
A conversation with Grimzoo: you tell, it asks a follow-up question to bring out the details. Three follow-ups at most per memory.
Discovery
A question drawn at random from the pages of the Grimoire, to revive a memory you hadn't told yet.
Tailored
Questions written from what you've already confided, to dig into a detail or go where ready-made questions don't. Opens from 3 memories — or as soon as you've introduced yourself.
Memory
Something you've added — your answer to a question, or a free text. Every Memory is kept in the Grimoire.
AI Clone
Your digital double. It learns from your memories and can answer questions about your life the way you would.
Mage
You! Every Grimzoo user is a Mage building their Grimoire and training their Clone.
Feeling
The emotion you feel when you think back on a memory: joyful, nostalgic, proud, moved, at peace, sad, amused, angry, amazed, puzzled.
Shared Grimoire
A selection of memories you make available to the people close to you. Two modes: an open link (anyone with the link) or one reserved for approved emails, which receive a verification code. You can regenerate the link at any time.
Shared Memory
A single memory you make readable through a link, without opening up your whole Grimoire. The recipient doesn't need an account. Different from the Shared Grimoire, which gives access to a whole selection.
Timeline
The chronological view of the Grimoire: your memories laid out along the periods of your life. It needs your birth year, which you enter in Settings.
AI Illustration
An image generated by Grimzoo in the style of the Manor, to dress up a memory that has no photo. It's decorative: your Clone never looks at it, unlike your real photos.
Enchanted Vault
The encryption system that protects your data. Your memories are safe inside the vault.
The Path
Your progress, in a single unit: the Memory. Each milestone has a name — Quill of the Manor, Weaver of Threads, Guardian of Memories… — and is celebrated when you reach it.
Imprint
What your Clone knows about you, and what it's still missing. It isn't a grade: it's a compass, telling you which theme or which period of your life is still left to tell.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Grimzoo free?
Yes — during the launch phase, Grimzoo is entirely free and unlimited. Premium plans will come later (you can get a preview on the Pricing page).
Is my data shared with third parties?
No. Your memories are strictly private. They're never shared, sold or used to train AI models.
Can the AI make up memories?
No. The AI Clone is built to answer only from your real memories. If it doesn't have enough to go on, it tells you so plainly.
Can I export my data?
Yes, at any time from Settings > Export the Grimoire, in three formats: PDF (to read or print), Word (.docx, to rework) or JSON (all your raw data).
Can I fill my Grimoire other than by writing?
Yes. You can import a Word or text notebook, a memoir in PDF (with its photos), drop an audio recording that will be transcribed, or import your Facebook and Instagram posts from the archive Meta provides. In every case, you approve each memory before it joins your Grimoire.
What happens to the photos I add?
They're encrypted like your memories. Grimzoo also writes a short description of each one, so your Clone knows what they're about when you ask it — it never identifies people. AI-generated illustrations are left out of this: they stay decorative.
How many questions can I answer?
Grimzoo currently offers 240 questions (20 per theme, 12 themes). New themes and questions will be added in future versions.
Can I make a book of my memories?
Yes. In your Grimoire, "Life Book" lays your memories out as a book to a printer's specifications: by life period or by theme, with or without your photos, a dedication, a few opening words and a cover in your name. You choose what goes in, you leaf through the real result before you start, then you download the PDF or the two files a printer expects. Your words are never rewritten. Three books a day, free during the launch phase.
Which devices does Grimzoo work on?
Grimzoo is a responsive web app that works on desktop, tablet and phone in your favourite browser, plus an iPhone and Android app for writing and rereading. The Life Book, though, is put together from a computer: it's desk work, like importing a notebook.
